Facelifting in Berlin
Sooner or later, time leaves its marks on everyone's face. Some of these are signs of a fulfilling life that we wouldn't want to miss. Other signs, such as wrinkles and tired, sagging skin, can make us appear significantly older than we are. Our face and our radiance no longer match our self-image, nor the way we want to be perceived by others. In our practice in Berlin, we offer Faceliftings as a solution. Youth, health, and success in life are often associated with a youthful-looking face.
Such discrepancies can be sustainably resolved through a Facelifting in our Berlin practice. It allows for the restoration of earlier facial proportions by significantly reducing wrinkles. Specific problem areas - such as sagging cheeks or eyebrows, neck wrinkles, or a double chin - are also corrected by a Facelifting. As a team, it is important to us that you are satisfied with your Facelifting with us in Berlin.
Your advantages with a Facelifting
Scientists at the American John Hopkins University found in a 2017 study that people appear on average almost four years younger after the procedure - however, in practice, the rejuvenation effect is often considerably greater. Many patients appear ten to 15 years younger after a Facelift.
For patients who decide on this procedure, an optimal result is an essential question. Also in view of this, a Facelifting is one of the most demanding cosmetic surgical operations. In our Berlin specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery, my team and I perform Faceliftings according to current and very high standards. I was able to gain corresponding experience in my clinical work with Facelifting in Berlin over many years. Facelift Berlin in my practice stands for the combination of medical and aesthetic excellence. It is important to my team and me that our medical art helps you achieve youthful radiance, natural beauty, a positive attitude towards life, and social success.

A facelift is generally performed on an inpatient basis so that you have immediate access to specialist medical care if needed in the first few hours after the procedure. At Facelift Berlin, you will stay in the clinic for at least 24 hours. However, a slightly longer clinic stay may be advisable after larger procedures. Before the start of the operation, I will mark the exact incision lines on your face with a skin pen. Subsequently, depending on the extent of the facelift, a local anesthetic of the surgical area or general anesthesia will be administered. With local anesthesia, you will also receive a mild sedative that puts you into a twilight sleep. The procedure itself lasts three to four hours. The skin and, depending on the surgical technique, deeper structures are smoothed and tightened. Afterwards, the excess skin and tissue created by the tightening are removed, and the incisions are sutured with medical thread as tension-free as possible. The sutures are removed after ten to 14 days.
As with any other operation, risks cannot be completely ruled out with a plastic-surgical facelift. Possible complications include secondary bleeding, wound healing disorders, or allergic reactions. Inflammation, injuries to the facial nerve structure, or an aesthetically unsatisfactory surgical result are extremely rare with a professionally performed facelift. As an experienced specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery, I will, of course, create all the conditions before and during the operation to ensure that a facelift at Facelift Berlin is associated with minimal risks. Nicotine and alcohol are risk factors that can impair and delay the wound healing process. You should refrain from them or reduce consumption as much as possible at least one week before the operation and in the first 14 days after the procedure. Blood-thinning preparations, pain medications, and sleeping pills should be discontinued one week before the procedure. Swelling and bruising cannot be avoided in the first few days after the procedure. You should only expect - usually mild - wound pain after a facelift in the first two days. They can be well managed with a mild painkiller.
On the first night, you will wear a head bandage that protects the wounds and helps stabilize the tissue. It will be removed the next day - usually, no further bandages are necessary afterwards. The first medical examination takes place on the day after the operation. If it is visible that the healing process has begun and there is currently no further need for treatment, you can leave the Facelift Berlin clinic. In the following weeks, we will arrange further check-up appointments in my practice. In the first few days after the procedure, rest and physical rest are important. Swelling and hematomas can be relieved by cooling. You will be able to work and socialize again after about 14 days. However, you should avoid sports and strenuous physical activity, as well as sauna visits, for another two weeks. Washing your face is possible immediately after removing the bandage. Make-up can also be applied without hesitation. Direct sunlight or UV light in the solarium can lead to permanent pigmentation of the scars. In the first few months after the procedure, you should therefore pay attention to good sun protection outdoors. After the sutures are removed, you can support the healing of the scars with special scar care. I will advise you on this during the follow-up appointments in my practice.
Facelifting Berlin – natural beauty through firm, fresh skin
The facelift (face lift) – also known as rhytidectomy in medical terminology – is a plastic-surgical procedure that aims to tighten and smooth the skin and deeper tissue layers of the face by tension. The procedure significantly mitigates signs of aging, and the face regains its original contour.
What results can be achieved with a facelift?
The result of a facelift is a significant rejuvenation of the face. Sagging facial areas are lifted. Overall, the face regains its original contour through the treatment. However, the goal of a facelift is not to completely eliminate wrinkles. The focus is much more on achieving a sustainable rejuvenation effect by preserving natural facial features. In addition, a facelift can also correct severe loss of elasticity and deep wrinkles.
After about four weeks, you can already see the first results of your facelift. A final result will be visible when the last swellings have subsided and the healing process is complete. This can take about three to six months.

Where are incisions necessary for a facelift?
Depending on the extent of the procedure, various surgical methods are used, which differ in terms of their incision lines. Generally, the incisions are made in inconspicuous places, so that the unavoidable, but very fine scars are later barely visible to you and others.
A classic facelift usually focuses on the middle and lower facial region (midface lift). If necessary, the forehead and neck can also be included in the treatment. This form of facelift is a "true" lift, in which the deeper supporting structures of the skin – the so-called SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) – are also included in the treatment. The incision line in a classic facelift extends from the hairline of the temples to the ear. If necessary, it can also be extended to the hairline of the neck. Depending on the desired surgical result, further incisions may be necessary – for example, to mitigate forehead wrinkles or to perform a tightening of the eyelids. In a neck lift, an incision is also made in the chin area. The loosened skin is pulled back upwards and sideways. Subsequently, the connective tissue of the subcutis is detached from the musculature and repositioned upwards – excess tissue is removed. A classic facelift is almost always performed under general anesthesia.
Mini Facelift Berlin
A mini facelift exclusively tightens the skin – the SMAS remains completely untouched during this procedure. This variant of facial rejuvenation is therefore also referred to as an "untrue" facelift. The skin incisions for a mini facelift are smaller and more superficial. For example, the incision at the back of the head is omitted. In this procedure, the cheeks, the jawline, and possibly the neck area are treated. As a result, the effect is less pronounced than with a classic facelift – a mini facelift is therefore particularly suitable for correcting mild signs of aging and for relatively firm skin. Due to its lower invasiveness and shorter operating time, a mini facelift is sometimes performed under local anesthesia.

Facelift Berlin – individual consultation, surgical excellence
The first step towards a facelift in our Berlin specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery is a comprehensive individual consultation. In this discussion, you share your ideas, wishes, and expectations with me, and together we decide on the best procedure for you. You will be informed about the optimal approach, the entire surgical procedure, and its limitations. As part of a detailed anamnesis, it will be determined whether you have any special risk factors or contraindications for a facelift. Of course, you will receive a treatment plan perfectly tailored to you.
Naturally, we are available to answer any further questions you may have in the days leading up to your operation and will continue to accompany you throughout the entire healing process.
Facelift Berlin – Do you have any further questions?
A facelift is suitable for women and men whose face has significantly lost its tautness and firmness. A classic facelift tightens the skin on the one hand, and on the other hand, deep tightening sculpts and lifts the facial contours.
Many people assume that a facelift is only necessary and sensible from the early fifties onwards. However, the decision should not be based on age, but on the perception of one's own appearance. Among plastic and aesthetic surgeons today, there is a consensus that a facelift achieves better results the earlier it is performed. For people in the public eye, an early intervention can also be interesting because others will not even notice that a cosmetic surgical correction has taken place. For very young patients, a mini facelift or minimally invasive corrections are sometimes appropriate.
The SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) is located under the skin. It consists of connective tissue, muscles, ligaments, and soft tissue. Overall, these are the supporting structures of the skin. The facial contours are significantly influenced by the condition of the SMAS.
A facial lift without a SMAS lift ("untrue" or mini facelift) should only be performed if skin aging is still in a very early stage. For more pronounced wrinkles and changes in facial contours, a responsible plastic and aesthetic surgeon will always prefer a classic facelift including SMAS treatment. The SMAS lift not only tightens the skin - rather, the facial contours are sculpted and lifted overall. The co-treatment of the SMAS is almost always an important prerequisite for achieving an optimal and sustainable overall result.
With a professionally performed facelift, you do not have to worry that your facial expressions will suffer or that the procedure will result in an unnatural, rigid facial expression. In a facelift according to current medical standards, the focus is on tightening the deep tissue/SMAS. The skin is only moderately tightened to achieve a natural-looking result.
The results of a facelift last at least seven to ten years. If wrinkles and sagging facial areas reappear afterwards, another lift is possible.
The incisions for a facelift are made in places - for example, at the hairline or behind the ears - where they will not be visible later. An experienced plastic and aesthetic surgeon will always ensure that scar-sparing incision techniques are used.
Generally, yes. In a facelift Berlin in my practice, the procedure is often combined with, for example, an eyelid lift (upper eyelid lift or lower eyelid lift), lipofilling. In the interest of an optimal overall result, such combinations are often even recommended.
A neck and cheek lift refers to a facelift that includes not only the face but also a neck lift.
Certain pre-existing conditions or the use of specific medications can be contraindications for surgical facelift. For this reason, it is important that you inform me about such points during the consultation. Often, a solution can still be found to perform the procedure.
