Hyperhidrosis - Botox for Sweating Berlin
Sweating fulfills a vital function for the body. The secretion of sweat keeps the body temperature constant. In great heat, strenuous physical activities or fever, it causes a cooling of the body surface. However, excessive sweating can become a significant psychosocial and physical burden for those affected. In medical terminology, this phenomenon is called hyperhidrosis. Localized hyperhidrosis is particularly noticeable in the armpits, hands, and feet. It can be treated with antiperspirants, medication, surgery, or injections with botulinum toxin-A (Botox). In our specialist practice for plastic-aesthetic surgery in Berlin, we offer our patients not only surgical therapies but also Botox injections for sweat treatment.

During the physical examination, we determine the dose and localization of the Botox injections. The treatment area is disinfected. To prevent pain, local anesthesia is performed or an anesthetic cream is applied. Subsequently, Botox injections are administered into the sweat glands of the armpits. A sweat treatment with Botox takes 20 to 30 minutes. There are no restrictions on your ability to work or socialize.
There are hardly any risks associated with Botox therapy for excessive sweating. Systemic side effects of the active ingredient are not known, intolerances or allergic reactions are very rare. It is particularly important that a sweat treatment with Botox is performed exclusively by an experienced specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery to safely rule out unpleasant side effects and treatment errors.
Botox injections for hyperhidrosis do not require special aftercare. Redness, swelling, or bruising disappear within a few days. You can also use deodorant without problems on the day of treatment. For the first two days, you should avoid physically strenuous activities. Direct sun exposure, sauna, solarium, and massages in the treated area are possible again after one week.
Botox for sweating in Berlin – for optimal quality of life and less sweat production.
Excessive sweating is experienced as very unpleasant by those affected and can also be perceived as disturbing by those around them. Between two and four percent of the adult population suffer from hyperhidrosis. Common causes of so-called primary hyperhidrosis and sweating attacks are stress, hormonal influences, and genetic factors. Before a sweat treatment with botulinum toxin, the causes of excessive sweating must therefore be clarified by a comprehensive medical examination.
Hyperhidrosis responds excellently to sweat treatment with Botox. The production of sweat is triggered by chemical messengers that dock to the nerve endings of the sweat glands and activate them. Botulinum toxin blocks this process by preventing these neurotransmitters from occupying these sites, so that no more sweat is produced. For the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis, it is injected into the muscles of the sweat glands under the skin, which are normally involved in generating the nerve impulses required for sweat production. A Botox treatment for sweating in Berlin restricts this impulse transmission.

What results can be achieved with a sweat treatment with Botox in Berlin?
Sweat production under the armpits is not completely stopped by treatment with botulinum toxin A injections, but it is reduced to a normal level that is no longer perceived as burdensome. First effects are already noticeable after a few days. After ten to 14 days, the sweat treatment with Botox unfolds its full effect. The result lasts for about four to six months, after which a new treatment is necessary.
Botox for sweating Berlin – individual advice and care
A sweat treatment with Botox in our Berlin specialist practice for plastic-aesthetic surgery begins with a detailed individual consultation. We would like to ask you to bring any existing medical findings on the causes of hyperhidrosis to this consultation. During the consultation, we will explain the procedure and the effect of the treatment, ask you some questions about pre-existing conditions, and perform a physical examination. The sweat treatment with Botox can take place directly after the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Natural botulinum toxin is the strongest known neurotoxin. It is produced by bacteria found in soil, but also colonizes inadequately preserved foods. Ingestion of botulinum toxin with food or through wounds can lead to life-threatening poisoning, as this substance interrupts the transmission of impulses between muscles and the nervous system.
Botox for medical use, however, is completely harmless to health. It is produced under controlled conditions. All Botox preparations available in Germany undergo a strict certification process before being approved as a medicine.
A sweat treatment with Botox is suitable for all patients who suffer from excessive sweating that cannot be sustainably reduced by antiperspirants or medication. The therapy reduces sweat production to a normal level, which, unlike hyperhidrosis, is not burdensome for those affected.
Botox reaches its highest effectiveness after about two to four weeks, after which it is gradually broken down by the body. Therefore, you must repeat the Botox treatment at intervals of about four months.
Basically, yes. Axillary hyperhidrosis can also be treated with a so-called suction curettage. This is a minimally invasive procedure in which fatty tissue and sweat glands are suctioned off with special cannulas. Since these tissues cannot regenerate, the result is permanent. In our Berlin specialist practice for plastic aesthetic surgery, we also offer this very sustainable procedure for sweat reduction.
In medicine, the active ingredient Botox has been used since the 1980s to treat neurological diseases and movement disorders - meanwhile, the active ingredient has also found its permanent place in sweat reduction treatment. In our Berlin practice for plastic aesthetic surgery, we use Botox not only for sweat treatments but also for the following indications:
- Botox for wrinkle treatment
- Botox for non-surgical brow lift
- Botox for bruxism (teeth grinding)
- Botox for masseter (hypertrophy of the masticatory muscles due to excessive muscle activity)
- Botox for sweat treatment on hands and feet
