Breast augmentation without surgery – a critical look

Many women are dissatisfied with the optical appearance of their breasts. This dissatisfaction can become very burdensome and lead to diminished self-esteem. Some women therefore try to hide in large clothes because they feel uncomfortable. Nevertheless, many women do not want an intervention - whether it is implants or another type of procedure. They avoid major operations. To enlarge the breasts anyway, there are different methods that initially promise a lot. In general, however, a critical look is required for some methods.

Optical measures for breast augmentation without surgery

First, for a person who desires larger breasts, there is the possibility of making them appear optically larger without actually gaining mass. A well-fitting bra can already be suitable for this, not only for wearing comfort. A bra that is too small can make the breasts appear smaller, and a bra that is too large can cause the breasts to sit too loosely and therefore appear smaller. With a push-up bra, an even more significant optical change can be achieved. Additionally, the décolleté can also look plumper with make-up through the right contouring.

Breast augmentation natural methods

Breast augmentation through natural methods

Chest and back training

If a purely optical enlargement is not the desired goal, one can try to enlarge the breasts by natural means. Numerous fitness tutorials advertise training the pectoral muscles and the muscles of the upper back to enlarge the breasts. They ensure that the pectoral muscles are built up and help to improve posture. However, the breasts do not actually enlarge as a result, as they consist of glandular and fatty tissues, which cannot be trained.

The breast appears larger at most due to improved posture. In fact, this targeted training can rather have the opposite of the desired effect, as strengthening the muscles is usually also associated with the reduction of body fat and thus also the fatty tissue of the breasts.

Nutrition with plant-based, female hormones

If breast growth cannot be enhanced through sports, is it then possible at the nutritional level? Foods that are particularly rich in phytoestrogens - i.e., with plant-derived female hormones - are said to promote breast growth.

These foods include avocados, nuts, flaxseeds, milk, or soy. In addition, collagen-containing foods such as eggs or salmon are said to lead to firming, and blood circulation-promoting foods such as citrus fruits and dark chocolate are said to ensure a plump appearance. However, the effect of these foods on breast growth has not been scientifically proven.

Breast massages are also said to stimulate collagen production and thus breast growth through promoted blood circulation. There are even special oils that are supposed to enhance this effect. Here, too, an effect is also not scientifically proven.

Questionable possibilities for breast augmentation

In addition to the many small ways to make breasts appear optically larger or to enlarge them through more or less functioning natural means, there are also other rather controversial ways where a critical look is of utmost importance.

Pills and Supplements

While some people try to adjust their diet to enlarge their breasts, others try a more questionable method: supplements. These are sold in the form of phytoestrogen pills – often made from herbs – on various websites with the promise that they are safe because they are made from plants. Nevertheless, they can carry the same risks as non-plant-based hormone pills, which also depends on the dosage. However, with these products, the dosage is often not properly indicated on the labels.

In addition to herbal hormone pills, there are hormone pills that are only available by prescription, for example, to treat an irregular period. They contain estrogen, progesterone, and growth hormones, but are not prescribed for breast augmentation and can unbalance the hormone system.

Creams and Lotions

Another offer frequently found on the internet are push-up lotions, i.e., creams that promise to enlarge breasts within a few months through their use. Similar to the supplement pills, these creams contain phytoestrogens and collagen for the enlargement and firming of breast tissue. Therefore, it is often recommended to use the creams together with the pills. Again, we must remind you that there is no scientific evidence for the effectiveness of these products.

Vacuum Pumps

Vacuum pumps, on the other hand, promise breast enlargement through external influences. With these, a type of suction cup is applied to the breasts, with the help of which the breast tissue is supposed to be gently sucked in to promote blood circulation. With regular use, this and the stretching of the breast skin are supposed to stimulate breast growth. But here too, effectiveness from a medical point of view is questionable. On the contrary, vacuum pumps can even pose a danger and harm breast tissue.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections

Since many affected individuals want to avoid surgery at all costs, breast augmentation through hyaluronic acid injections initially sounds attractive to many. For several years, it has been possible on the market to have breasts injected with hyaluronic acid or a liquid implant. For augmentation through hyaluronic acid injections, the desired amount of hyaluronic acid gel is injected directly above the pectoral muscle with a cannula. The liquid implant consists of a saline solution and a biopolymer.

The hyaluronic acid used for non-surgical breast augmentation is based on Macrolane. This product carries various risks and side effects, which led to Macrolane being banned for breast augmentation in Germany since 2012. Possible side effects of this treatment include asymmetries resulting from premature degradation, as well as potential capsule formation and indentations.

In addition, this type of treatment is not permanent. Within approximately three years, the hyaluronic acid is already broken down by the body, so you will not achieve a long-lasting result with this treatment. The costs of this treatment are also not exactly affordable – especially if you have to have problems that may arise surgically corrected. For this type of treatment, costs between €5,000 and €16,000 can arise. Thus, this method is more expensive than other methods that promise a long-lasting, less risky result.

Breast Augmentation Offers in Our Practice

In our specialized practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin, we do NOT offer these treatments as an alternative to breast augmentation with implants or autologous fat. Especially the risks associated with hyaluronic acid injections are far too risky to perform the procedure with a clear conscience.

Especially since the results achieved with it are not long-lasting. In our Berlin practice, we want to ensure that our patients receive a sustainable, health-friendly result with which they can lead a happy life long after the procedure.

Autologous Fat Injection as an Alternative to Surgery

A method for breast augmentation that does not require surgery and that we offer in our practice is an autologous fat injection. This can increase breast size by an average of half a cup size. With a second or sometimes even third treatment for optimization, the volume can be further increased.

The advantage of this type of breast augmentation is that hardly visible scars appear where the fat was removed, and the procedure on the breasts is no longer recognizable after a short time.

If a greater enlargement of the breasts or a change in breast shape is desired, surgical breast augmentation is the best choice. You are welcome to discuss this or an autologous fat injection with us so that you receive a result according to your wishes and ideas.
