Neck liposuction and a firmer neck in Berlin

Neck Liposuction in Berlin

Fat deposits beneath the chin and loose, creased skin on the neck can create the appearance of a double chin, altering the contours and expression of the entire face. A double chin may also contrast sharply with the desire for a slender neck and a well-defined transition to the chin. This is important to many women and men who would prefer clearer definition around the neck and jawline.

Neck and chin liposuction in Berlin offers a reliable, long-term way to reduce a double chin. If the neck skin is particularly loose or creased, the procedure can be combined with a face and neck lift. At my specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin, I perform liposuction on the neck as well as other areas of the body, including abdominal liposuction and leg liposuction. My aim is to achieve a natural, more youthful appearance that can help you feel more confident and comfortable in yourself.

Immediately before surgery, I will review the procedure with you once more. I will then examine the treatment area again and mark the final incision sites. During liposuction, fat is loosened within the tissue beneath the skin and removed through fine cannulas. Depending on the findings, treatment with J-Plasma Renuvion may follow. Neck liposuction is usually performed under local anaesthetic, with a mild sedative to place you in twilight sedation. General anaesthesia is also available if preferred. The procedure takes approximately one hour and does not normally require an overnight stay.

Neck liposuction is generally considered a low-risk operation when performed by an experienced specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Nevertheless, as with any surgical procedure, complications such as bleeding, delayed wound healing, infection or adverse reactions to medication cannot be ruled out entirely. Swelling and bruising may occur immediately after surgery but usually subside relatively quickly.

For the first week after neck liposuction, you will wear a compression garment around the head and neck to support the treated tissues. Any discomfort usually subsides within a few hours and can generally be managed effectively with mild pain relief. Cooling the area may help reduce swelling and bruising. You can wash your face and neck or shower after one day. During the first month, however, you should avoid direct sunlight, UV exposure, saunas, massages and cosmetic treatments to the face and neck. Physical activity should be limited for one to two weeks, and exercise can usually be resumed after four weeks.

Neck Liposuction in Berlin for a More Youthful Appearance

Many people develop a double chin over time, regardless of gender. It may be caused by excess fatty tissue around the neck, whilst loose skin can create a similar effect by changing the contours of the neck and chin. Fat deposits in this area are often influenced by genetic or hormonal factors, environmental influences, substantial weight fluctuations and, of course, the natural ageing process.

The most suitable way to address excess tissue around the neck and chin depends on your individual anatomy. If the double chin is caused primarily by localised fat cells, liposuction may be appropriate. Where the skin is significantly loose, liposuction can instead be combined with a face and neck lift, during which excess skin is surgically removed. If the skin retains much of its elasticity and a surgical lift is therefore unnecessary, J-Plasma Renuvion may be used after neck liposuction to provide additional tightening of the tissue beneath the skin.

What Results Can Neck Liposuction Achieve?

Liposuction can restore definition to the neck and chin by removing excess fatty tissue. Where necessary, the skin in the treatment area can also be tightened surgically or with J-Plasma Renuvion. By reducing excess fat, the procedure can refine the contours of the neck, chin and jawline, the area extending from the chin to the ear.

An initial improvement is visible immediately after the procedure. The final contours of the neck and chin usually become apparent after three to six months, once healing is complete.

As removed fat cells do not grow back, the result of neck liposuction is generally long-lasting, provided body weight remains stable. If loose skin also contributed to the double chin and a face and neck lift was performed, a further procedure may be considered after seven to ten years as the natural ageing process continues.

Where Are the Incisions Made for Neck Liposuction?

Small skin incisions are made behind the earlobes to introduce the liposuction cannulas. They are sufficiently small that stitches are not usually required. The scars generally fade well and are positioned discreetly. If liposuction is combined with a facelift, the additional incision follows the hairline behind the ear.

Neck Liposuction in Berlin – Personalised Advice and Care

Neck liposuction at the Dottore Caletti specialist practice in Berlin always begins with a detailed, personalised consultation. I will discuss your aims and expectations with you and explain how the procedure is performed, including its possibilities, limitations and associated risks. Based on these findings, I will recommend the most appropriate treatment options and prepare an individual treatment plan. My priority is to ensure that liposuction and any accompanying procedures produce a natural, balanced result that complements your features.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is Suitable for Neck Liposuction in Berlin?

Neck liposuction may be suitable for people whose chin and neck have lost definition because of localised fat deposits, sometimes combined with loose skin, and who wish to reduce the appearance of a double chin. Suitability is assessed individually during consultation.

Are There Non-Surgical Alternatives for Reducing a Double Chin?

Only to a limited extent. Fat deposits beneath the chin often remain even after substantial weight loss, whilst massage and cosmetic treatments usually have little effect on loose neck skin. Neck liposuction, where appropriate combined with a face and neck lift to address loose skin and creasing, is generally the most reliable long-term surgical approach to reducing a double chin.

Is General Anaesthesia Advisable for Neck Liposuction?

There is usually no medical need for general anaesthesia during this procedure. Neck liposuction is associated with relatively little discomfort, and local anaesthetic is generally sufficient to prevent pain from the small incisions and insertion of the liposuction cannulas. You will also receive a sedative so that the procedure can be performed under twilight sedation. If you prefer, I can perform neck liposuction under general anaesthesia.

Why Do I Need to Wear a Compression Garment After Surgery?

Removing fat cells during liposuction initially leaves a space within the treated tissue. A compression garment helps prevent blood and tissue fluid from collecting there after surgery. It supports the tissues and contributes to the desired contours of the neck and chin as healing progresses.

What Is J-Plasma Renuvion?

J-Plasma Renuvion is a technology used to tighten loose tissue after liposuction. The removal of fat creates spaces within the treated area that are crossed by strands of connective tissue. J-Plasma, also known as “cool plasma”, combines ionised helium gas with radiofrequency energy. The device is introduced through the same small access points used for liposuction, allowing energy to be delivered beneath the skin. This causes controlled contraction of the connective tissue and may provide additional tightening and smoothing. The treatment is performed under anaesthesia, and its effects are intended to be long-lasting, although the natural ageing process continues.

How Long Do the Results of Neck Liposuction Last?

The results of neck liposuction are generally long-lasting because removed fat cells do not grow back. However, liposuction cannot stop the natural ageing of the skin and connective tissue, and remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. It may therefore become appropriate to address a double chin caused by skin laxity at a later stage.

Can Neck Liposuction Be Combined with Other Plastic Surgery Procedures?

Yes, in principle. Combining procedures may help achieve a more balanced overall result where clinically appropriate. For example, neck liposuction is often performed alongside facial liposuction or a surgical face and neck lift. It can also be combined with liposuction of the abdomen, arms or legs.

Are There Any Contraindications to Neck Liposuction?

Certain pre-existing medical conditions and medications may make neck liposuction inadvisable or require special precautions. I will discuss these factors with you during your consultation and assess whether the procedure can be performed safely or whether an alternative approach would be more appropriate.
