Skin Tightening with Minimal Scarring Using Renuvion (J-Plasma) in Berlin

Firm, youthful-looking skin is widely considered desirable. However, natural ageing, environmental factors, significant weight fluctuations and pregnancy can all leave visible changes in the skin. Over time, the skin and connective tissue lose elasticity, becoming looser and more wrinkled and altering the contours of the body. Until recently, surgical skin tightening with removal of excess skin was the only effective treatment option. A minimally invasive alternative is now available in aesthetic medicine. J-Plasma Renuvion uses controlled thermal energy beneath the skin to contract tissue and improve its firmness and elasticity. Developed in the USA, Renuvion offers skin tightening through small access incisions rather than the longer scars associated with conventional excisional surgery.

At my specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin, I offer J-Plasma Renuvion alongside surgical skin tightening and liposuction. My aim is to achieve a natural-looking improvement that helps you feel more confident and comfortable in your body.

Skin tightening with Renuvion takes approximately one hour, depending on the extent of treatment. Most patients can return to work and social activities within two to three days. If the procedure is combined with liposuction, a somewhat longer recovery period should be expected.

Complications following Renuvion skin tightening are uncommon, but no procedure is entirely without risk. The controlled delivery of energy and the cooling effect of helium help reduce the risk of overheating and burns. Infection and delayed wound healing are rare. It is particularly important that treatment is carried out by a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery with experience in using J-Plasma Renuvion.

No special aftercare is usually required following Renuvion treatment without liposuction. Swelling and mild bruising generally subside within a short time, and any associated discomfort can be eased with cooling. The small access incisions usually heal with very inconspicuous scars. They are sutured after the procedure, and the sutures are removed after 14 days. During this period, you should protect the treated areas from direct sunlight and avoid saunas, sunbeds, massages and cosmetic treatments. Following extensive treatment of the abdomen or thighs, compression garments may be recommended for the first three weeks to support the treated tissue. Physical rest is advisable for the first two days, and exercise can usually be resumed after three weeks.

Skin Tightening with J-Plasma Renuvion for Firmer, Smoother and Younger-Looking Skin

Renuvion technology combines radiofrequency energy with cool helium gas. The radiofrequency energy creates a plasma beam known as J-Plasma, which is delivered into the deeper tissue layers through fine cannulas. The plasma energy briefly heats the skin and connective tissue to approximately 85°C in several controlled passes, causing the tissue to contract and producing a long-lasting tightening effect. Renuvion treatment also stimulates the skin’s regenerative processes, supporting the gradual formation of new collagen-rich tissue. The helium provides cooling and enables the thermal energy to be delivered in a controlled manner.

J-Plasma Renuvion skin tightening is frequently combined with liposuction, such as neck liposuction, upper-arm liposuction or thigh liposuction. It may also be combined with other skin-tightening procedures or performed as a standalone treatment.

What Results Can Be Achieved with Renuvion Skin Tightening?

J-Plasma Renuvion tightens the skin from within and can produce a long-lasting improvement. When used after liposuction, it can refine the overall contour and aesthetic result. An initial tightening effect is often visible immediately after the procedure, with the final result developing over three to six months. The improvement can remain stable over the long term, provided there are no subsequent major fluctuations in weight.

Skin Tightening with Minimal Scarring at My Practice – Personalised Advice and Care

Renuvion skin tightening at my specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery in Berlin always begins with a detailed, personalised consultation. I will explain how the treatment works and what the procedure involves, ask about your medical history and carry out a physical examination. I will also discuss the potential risks and limitations with you. If minimally invasive skin tightening is suitable, I will assess whether it should be performed alone or combined with liposuction or another procedure. My aim is to achieve a balanced, natural-looking result that complements your proportions and helps you feel more comfortable in your body.

What Happens During J-Plasma Renuvion Skin Tightening?

Before treatment begins, I will review each stage of the procedure with you. J-Plasma Renuvion skin tightening can be performed with or without prior liposuction. In both cases, small access incisions measuring approximately three to four millimetres are required in the treatment area. Their positions are marked on the skin beforehand. You will then receive either local or general anaesthesia. If local anaesthesia is used, I also administer a mild sedative so that the procedure can be performed under twilight sedation.

When Renuvion is combined with liposuction, the excess fat is removed first. The cannulas used to deliver the plasma energy are then inserted through the same small incisions. If skin tightening is performed without liposuction, the tissue is first prepared internally using a technique known as tunnelling, which is also carried out with fine cannulas. The Renuvion plasma treatment is then performed.

J-Plasma Renuvion skin tightening is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. If a very extensive area is treated, an overnight inpatient stay may be recommended.

Which Areas of the Body Can Be Treated with Renuvion?

Renuvion skin tightening can be performed on many areas of the body. It is used particularly often to treat loose skin around the neck and chin, upper arms, thighs, abdomen and hips.

Body Contouring with Renuvion – Why Is It Often Combined with Liposuction?

Removing fat creates spaces within the tissue crossed by connective-tissue fibres, which may contribute to uneven contours or dimpling. Renuvion contracts this connective tissue in a controlled manner, helping the skin conform more smoothly to the newly shaped area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is Suitable for Renuvion Treatment?

This treatment may be suitable for women and men who are concerned about loose skin with reduced elasticity and would prefer a minimally invasive procedure. Suitability depends on the degree of skin laxity, the treatment area and your general health.

Can Renuvion Be Used for Facial Skin Tightening?

In principle, yes. Treatment is primarily focused on tightening the skin around the chin and neck, although selected other areas of the face may also be suitable.

When Is Renuvion Skin Tightening Recommended?

I primarily recommend Renuvion when skin laxity is mild to moderate, as this is generally when the most favourable results can be achieved. A substantial amount of excess skin is more appropriately treated with surgical procedures such as an abdominoplasty, arm lift or thigh lift.

When Will I See a Tightening Effect?

An initial tightening effect may be visible immediately after treatment. Renuvion also supports the natural regeneration of the skin and connective tissue, a gradual process that continues over several months.

Are the Results Permanent?

The results can be long-lasting, particularly if your weight remains stable. However, Renuvion cannot stop the natural ageing process, and the skin will continue to change over time.
